What the screening may look like
There is no single “AI interview.” Depending on the platform and project, you might record short answers, discuss experience, complete an English or subject-matter screening, compare model responses or annotate sample data. The platform sets its own rules, including whether you may use help and outside resources.
Practise the underlying skills. Memorised answers rarely fit, because different projects ask different questions. No platform guarantees access to live tasks.
How to explain your reasoning
Use a simple pattern of requirement, evidence and conclusion. For example, “The prompt asks for exactly three steps, and Response B has five. B breaks the length limit, so A follows the instruction more closely.” Short explanations usually work better than long commentary.
When you are unsure, say what is uncertain and what evidence you would check. Confidence without support can lower the quality of your answer.
Five habits that help
- Read every instruction. Watch for “exactly”, “only”, “do not” and format requirements.
- Manage time. Read carefully, then answer without unnecessary filler.
- Use concrete examples. Describe relevant real work, even outside AI.
- Be truthful. Do not claim tools, languages or experience you do not have.
- Respect the rules. If an assessment forbids AI assistance, do not use it.
Before clicking submit
Check the role requirements, the permitted resources, your time zone and that your profile details are correct. Practice explaining one or two sample decisions aloud. If the platform records you, test your microphone and connection. Leave enough quiet time to concentrate.
One optional example
I wrote these examples for learning. They come from no platform assessment, and there is no score.
